Last weekend, during the New Year holidays, around 500 foreign nationals from 15 countries took advantage of the visa-free program and came to visit the Augustow Canal park. Most of them were Lithuanian, Polish, and German citizens. There were also tourists from Sweden, France, Spain, and Italy. The western region of Belarus expects the tourist inflow to keep growing since on 1 January the duration of visa-free stay was extended to ten days. Belarus launched the visa-free program in more areas, and increased the number of border checkpoints in order to allow more foreign tourists to enter Belarus.
