Veteran of legendary Normandie-Nieman squadron presented with high state award of Belarus

The Order of Honor was awarded to the veteran of the legendary squadron «Normandy-Nieman» Andre Peyronie. He fought on the Kursk Bulge, participated in the liberation of Belarus, and ended the war in Germany. For several years the squadron mechanic fought side by side with his Soviet counterparts. Ambassador Pavel Latushko presented the high state award on behalf of the President of Belarus. On May 8 the only surviving veteran of the legendary squadron living in France André Peyronie will celebrate his 98th birthday.
