A vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV), certain strains of which are known to cause cancer, has arrived in Belarus. The Chinese vaccine, "Cecolin", is now available in clinics and schools. The virus affects women of all ages, with those aged 45 to 60 at particular risk. This year, the vaccine has been included in the National Immunization Schedule. It is recommended for girls aged 11 years and older. More than 800 cases of cervical cancer are registered in Belarus annually. Countries where vaccination has been introduced have seen a significant decline in this type of disease.
