An updated Labor Code comes into force in Belarus. The changes are aimed at protecting the rights of workers and expanding the powers of employers. Conscientious workers may have their contracts extended to five years by the agreement between the parties. The concept of "distance employment" has been addressed. Remote employees will be subject to the general rules of the Labor Code. Innovations will affect fathers too, as they will now be able to take a two-week vacation during the first six months after the birth of a child. The employees are to be informed about the changes in essential working conditions within a month.
