Nativity Fast begins for Orthodox believers

Nativity Fast has begun today for Orthodox believers. This is one of 4 multi-day fasts, which will last until January 6 inclusive. Its main purpose is spiritual purification of a man through repentance and prayer. Also, the faithful limit themselves in food, abstain from eating meat, milk, eggs and animal oils.
