Tonight Belarusians mark «Kupalle»

Tonight Belarusians are going to mark one of the most authentic and colorful rites called «Kupalle», or «Kupala Night». The celebration goes back to ancient centuries and relates to the summer solstice.  Traditionally, it involves the searching for the mythic fern-flower, gathering of healing herbs, and purification by fire. The Kupala bonfire has always been in the center of folk festivals. People used to threw everything unnecessary in the fire, asking for good luck, harvest and prosperity.
