In 1942, the Nazis killed over two thousand civilians in the village of Borki. Only 38 survived. Members of the public and young people gathered at the memorial to the burned villages. Flowers were laid at the foot of the "Grieving Mother" monument and the granite slabs bearing the names of the fallen. In the Mogilev Oblast, over 100 villages burned during the Great Patriotic War have been identified. Their names and the names of over 600 victims are immortalized on the granite slabs of the memorial.
