The main meaning of the holiday is spiritual. It is associated with the church's remembrance of the miracles of the Holy Cross. Today, the church also remembers the Maccabean martyrs who suffered for their faith. Therefore, honey Savior is also called poppy. This Savior coincides with the beginning of the Dormition Fast.
