The telecommunications infrastructure at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border will be modernized within two years. The joint program of international technical assistance of the European Union, the State Border Committee of Belarus and the Lithuanian side (BOMBEL) provides for the creation of comfortable conditions for border crossing and an effective barrier to international criminal groups. According to the plan, almost 400 kilometers of fiber optic communication lines will be laid along the Belarusian-Lithuanian border connecting about 50 fixed sites of the border infrastructure.
