Another executioner of Khatyn will be tried in Belarus. Today the Supreme Court will consider the criminal case against Konstantin Smovsky, accused of genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. Documented crimes, witness interviews and archival data on the acts of the collaborator occupy 49 volumes of the criminal case. Konstantin Smovsky, a native of Ukraine, was taken into German captivity, where he later cooperated with the occupation troops. He was the head of the 118th security battalion. 26 episodes of his criminal activity were established, including in Khatyn. After the Second World War the collaborator emigrated to West Germany and then to the USA. Until his death in 1960, Smovsky was not prosecuted for war crimes.
