Today St. Petersburg bids farewell to famous academician, Nobel Prize winner Zhores Alferov. The funeral ceremony will begin at 11 o'clock at the Research Center of the Academy of Sciences. The outstanding scientist will receive military honors, with guards at the coffin and a military band. Alferov will be buried at Komarovsky cemetery. The native of Belarus passed away on March 1. He was 88 years old. Alferov was called the generator of ideas, as bright as the sun, whose energy he dreamed of giving to the world. The physicist became a legend of science, an asteroid named after him.
