New approaches to immigration policy have been discussed in Minsk today by UN and IOM experts, human rights activists, diplomats, businessmen and officials. The main message is that migration can and should be of benefit. Prior to that, the experts discussed ways to improve immigration legislation. As before, the main stream of migration to Belarus is from Ukraine. 17,000 people moved to Belarus in 2014; in 2015, the number of migrants amounted to 14,000. All the necessary conditions have been created in Belarus for the adaptation of forced migrants.
