Slonim is preparing for the celebration of the Day of Belarusian written language. On September 1st, participants and guests will be able to get acquainted with new book editions, and will meet with writers and publishers. The city will host dozens of exhibitions and thematic events. By tradition, the festival will award the winners of the competition for the best literary work of the year. During the celebrations, a monument to Leu Sapieha, a statesman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, will be unveiled in the central square of Slonim. Thanks to him, in 1591, the city was granted the Magdeburg Law.
