Celebratory assemblies dedicated to the launch of the new academic year are taking place in Belarusian schools today. This year, 110,000 children will go to school for the first time. Traditionally, each of them will be presented with a gift from the Belarusian President - the book Belarus is Our Motherland. This year will see total of about a million schoolchildren, which is 13,000 more compared to last year, and 5,000 young teachers.As for the financial aspect of the educational process, about 5 billion non-denominated rubles will be allocated to this sphere by the state. This parameter reaches 5% in the country"s GDP, which is one of the highest in the CIS. Prior to the launch of the new academic year, charity campaigns to support needy families raising school-age children and orphans have been held across the country.
