Today, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili is paying an official visit to Belarus. The meetings are held at the Palace of Independence. This is the first official visit of the President of Georgia to Belarus. The program is very intensive. The heads of states will hold talks in one-to-one and extended formats – with the members of the delegation participating. Activation of the bilateral interaction, specially in trade and economy, is in the center of attention. The trade turnover between the two countries grew by 60% over the last year, and approached 100 mil. dollars.

Two years ago the leaders of Belarus and Georgia agreed to increase bilateral trade to 200 mil. Dollars. Premium will be placed on joint ventures. A series of bilateral documents are expected to be signed as a result of the talks. Along with it, the program of the Georgia president visit includes meetings at the Belarusian government and parliament. Mr.Margvelashvili is also expected to hold a conference at the Belarusian National Technical university, as well as attend the Museum of the history World War – II and the memorial complex “The Hill of Glory”. The Georgian delegation will stay in Belarus for 3 days.
