In Belarus’ Baranovichy, the sanctuary of the Mother of God of Fatima has erected a symbol of the Christian faith of an unusual form. The cross is made of wood in human height, and its bar is curved in such a way that it seems to strive to hug everyone who comes to the church. The new sacred figure has been consecrated as the Pandemic Cross. Made by a local monk Cornelius Koncek, the symbol is meant to help people keep head up during the difficult epidemiological situation. Due to the pandemic, the Catholic Church of Belarus has strengthened sanitary safety measures in churches, kissing and touching icons and relics are temporarily canceled. Many temples began to stream their services online.
