The Orthodox Christians mark Epiphany Eve today. Believers are preparing to celebrate the feast of the Epiphany. The church marks the Gospel event - the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River. Then the Holy Spirit descended upon the Son of God in the form of a dove pointing to the divine origin and mission of the Messiah. In all Orthodox churches, today and tomorrow, great water blessing takes place. Open water is also being sanctified. One of the baptismal traditions is Epiphany bathing rites. It is expected that about 160 thousand Belarusians will take part in them. According to doctors, such bathing is contraindicated for people with acute chronic diseases, this procedure is not recommended for children and elderly people.
