Orthodox Christians mark Ascension of Jesus

Today, the Orthodox Christians mark one of the main holidays of the year – the Ascension of Jesus Christ. The feast is celebrated on the 40th day of Easter. According to the Bible, Jesus, in the company of the disciples, is taken up in their sight after warning them to remain in Jerusalem until the coming of the Holy Spirit. The ascension to heaven means the completion of the earthly ministry of Jesus. For believers this is a day of joy. All the churches are celebrating the divine services. According to official statistics, 75% of Belarusians are Orthodox Christians.
