Today, Christian Orthodox believers celebrate the Annunciation Day. According to the tradition, it was on this day that the archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and told her the good news that she would become the mother of the Savior. Among the traditions of the holiday is baking prosphoras. On this day at the services the priests are wearing blue robes, which symbolize purity and chastity. The holiday is so much revered that if it takes place during Lent, the fasting rules are relaxed.
