Earlier speed restrictions for electric scooters were 15 km/h — within the first ring road, 20 km/h — within the second ring road. In the remaining area of Minsk within the Minsk Ring Road, the maximum permitted speed was 25 km/h.
According to the new decision of Minsk City Executive Committee, the speed limits have been changed. Now within the first ring road it is allowed to move at a speed not higher than 15 km/h, within the second ring road — not higher than 17 km/h. And in the rest of the capital within the Minsk Ring Road, the speed should not exceed 20 km/h. Also in Minsk, the speed limit on personal mobility aids is 7 km/h in some areas. In total, there were 47 such zones, but this year their number will grow to 200. These are not only avenues, but also dormitory neighborhoods of large residential areas. The sites were selected based on the results of accident rate analysis for the last three years.
