International Mother Language Day observed worldwide today

Today is International Mother Language Day. First announced by UNESCO General Conference it is celebrated for the 20^th time. In Belarus, this day is full of events taking place throughout the country. In the capital, the development of the Belarusian language is discussed at meetings and conferences today. The Kolas Institute of Linguistics holds a round table on the use of Belarusian medical terminology, lectures for philology students and a presentation of the Belarusian-Russian dictionary by Afanasy Yarushevich. The National Library will be screening quotes from classics of literature in the morning and evening.
