April 12 is the World Aviation and Astronautics Day. 60 years ago on this day from the Baikonur cosmodrome, the Vostok-1 spacecraft with the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on board made the first spacewalk. Belarus received the status of a space power with the launch of its own satellite in 2012. Today, the country has formed all the necessary infrastructure for receiving, transmitting and processing space information. The Belarusian Earth Remote Sensing Spacecraft, the Belintersat-1 communications satellite and the BSU Sat-1 educational nanosatellite of the Belarusian State University operate in near-earth orbit.
