Orthodox believers celebrate Honey Savior. The honey in hives is believed to be fully ripe by this day. Freshly harvested product was brought to the church, consecrated, and then given to all comers, first of all — to the needy. The honey consecrated on this day is believed to have a great healing power. On Honey Savior it is customary to honor beekeepers and their work. From this day begins the shortest Christian fast, the Assumption fast, which precedes the Assumption of the Mother of God.
