Today the world marks the Holocaust Remembrance Day. It was established in 2005 by the resolution of the UN General Assembly, co-authored by Belarus. During the Nazi occupation from 600 to 800 thousand Jews were killed in our country. The exact number has not yet been established. The event timed to the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance was held at the Yama memorial in Minsk. It was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, representatives of the diplomatic corps and Jewish communities. The efforts of our country to preserve the memory of the Holocaust were highly appreciated by Israeli Ambassador to Belarus Alex Goldman Shaiman.
