Day of Slavonic Writing and Culture celebrated in Belarus

Today is the Day of Slavonic Writing and Culture. In the church calendar, May 24 is the day of veneration of the enlighteners, creators of the Slavonic alphabet and the pioneers of writing, brothers Cyril and Methodius, Equal to the Apostles By the way, it was thanks to the spread of Christianity that the first handwritten books appeared in our lands. Many monasteries and temples in Belarus had libraries and workshops for copying books. In memory of the enlighteners Cyril and Methodius, a Christian center named after them was founded in Belarus, and on the eve of the Day Minsk hosted the 30^th International Cyril and Methodius Readings. Solemn services are held in Orthodox churches. A morning liturgy was held in the Holy Spirit Cathedral, and a procession to the historical site of the Minsk Castle will take place.
