Today, the world remembers the victims of the Chernobyl accident. 33 years ago, a quarter of Belarusian territory was contaminated with radioactive fallout. The country is implementing the sixth state program to eliminate the consequences of the largest man-made disaster of the 20th century. The main focus is on the socio-economic development of the affected territories. In addition to improvement of the population’s health, new enterprises are being created, the number of jobs is increasing, housing is being built. $25 billion were already spent on the revival of the affected Belarusian lands.
