At the age of 81, People’s Artist of Belarus and the USSR Igor Luchenok passed away. On November 2, he was hospitalized with a stroke. The artistic legacy of a native of Maryina Gorka is well known outside of Belarus. He worked in different genres – free-symphonic, chamber-instrumental, chamber-vocal, but most fruitfully in the song. Thanks to the music by Igor Luchenok, we now have such classic hits as “My native nook”, “Veronika”, and “Heritage”. Every hour his “Song about Minsk” chimes at the tower clock of the Minsk city hall.
