Caterpillar invasion threatens Buxus shrubs in Brest

Buxus shrubs disappear in Brest as millions of caterpillars destroy the plant. In just a few days, pests exterminated tens of meters of green decoration. Parks, squares, and private farmsteads suffer from the insects. Buxus was one of the city's brands. The Brest crest with the alphabet, the origin of the Belarusian written language, was made of Buxus. According to experts, the caterpillar that attacks the plant was brought in with international transport. Now scientists are trying to find a type of Buxus resistant to the new pest.
