Scientists of the Belarusian State University have developed a technology for monitoring mineral fields. The technology is based on Earth remote sensing data analysis and allows quickly tracking environmental changes in the areas of mineral field development, reducing the negative environmental impact when extracting natural resources. The technology predicts the risks of collapses, flooding of quarries and mines, gas emissions at potassium salts, limestone, sand, and clay extraction sites. The authors of the new technology are employees of the BSU’s Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics.
