Belarus has sent a Mi-8 helicopter to Latvia to help fight forest fires. A group consisting of six rescuers has left for Latvia. The helicopter was sent following the instruction of the Belarus President. More than 100 hectares of forests in Latvia are on fire. That is why Riga asked for help. The Belarusian Emergencies Ministry has a wealth of experience in dousing forest fires in a complex environment. Belarus has taken part in battling wildfires in Turkey, Greece and Russia.
