Belarus strengthening measures to combat smoking

Belarus is strengthening measures to combat smoking. The head of state signed a decree toughening anti-tobacco laws. It is prohibited to open merch display of liquids for electronic smoking systems and to sell them to minors. Places of sale and use of electronic cigarettes is also limited. The list of areas where smoking is completely prohibited has been expanded to include ancillary rooms of residential buildings, playgrounds, territories of sports and recreation camps, educational institutions, transport stops and underground passages. Since 2020, in stores with an area of more than one thousand square meters, it will only be possible to sell tobacco products and electronic smoking systems through product departments. Since 2022, a complete ban on the storage and sale of tobacco in stores above the cash desks will be introduced.
