Belarus marks Internationalist Soldiers Remembrance Day and 30 years since Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan

The memory of the Soviet soldiers, who died in combat operations in Afghanistan, was honored on the Island of Courage and Sorrow in Minsk. 30 years ago, the nine-year war ended, which claimed the lives of 15 thousand Soviet soldiers. Representatives of government agencies, the Belarusian army, veterans of the Afghanistan war, mothers and widows of the fallen took part in a solemn ceremony. The name of the 771th Belarusian was immortalized on the memorial on the Island of Courage and Sorrow.
