Belarus Health Ministry supports opening 3rd bone marrow transplantation unit

The Ministry of Health of Belarus supported an initiative to open the third bone marrow transplantation unit. This will allow doubling the number of operations. Today, there are about 250 such surgeries performed in Belarus annually. The medical procedure is carried out for patients with different types of oncology, blood diseases, immunodeficiency. 10% of the patients are foreigners. Last year the export of such services amounted to almost $2 million. Belarusians can undergo bone marrow transplantation free of charge.
