Belarus celebrating International Biological Diversity Day

"Become part of the plan" is the motto of the International Day of Biological Diversity. Its preservation is one of the areas of the state policy of Belarus. The country is hosting the Week of Native Nature. The program includes seminars, presentations, exhibitions, lectures and excursions. They are held at organizations of the Department of Biological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. According to the latest data, the situation with biodiversity in the country is stable. 56% of the territory is occupied by natural complexes and ecological systems. Most of them are forests, which is about 41%. The fauna is represented by more than 70 species of mammals. There are also more than 11 thousand different species of plants in Belarus.
