Amendments to some border security laws come into force

Amendments to some laws on border security have come into force. Thus, now, when they are in the border area, Belarusians can present either a passport, a military ID, a driver’s license or a service certificate. And foreigners will not need pass-tickets to transit through the border zone to visit health centers, holiday hotels or motorway service facilities. According to the Belarusian State Border Committee, the new rules greatly simplify the procedure for visiting the border area and contribute to increasing the attractiveness of tourist spots. The law also gives customs officials the authority to perform certain functions of border guards. This will allow to free up the staff’s time. They will be sent to the units that directly guard the border.
