Alexander Lukashenko points out Belarus' interest in cooperation with EU on issues of regional development

The events held by the European Committee of the Regions and the Minsk Conference of regional and local authorities of the Eastern Partnership contribute to the normalization of relations between Belarus and the European Union. This was stated today by the President of Belarus at a meeting with the head of the Committee Markku Markkula. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus is a reliable and consistent partner of all forces that care about the harmonious development of rural areas. The Committee of the Regions of the EU is an authoritative organization in Europe, which unites the heads of more than 550 municipalities and provinces of the continent. The day before the meeting of the Bureau of this initiative took place in Minsk, where Belarus put forward a number of proposals for the forthcoming Eastern Partnership summit.
