A. Lukashenko: Belarusian People's Congress is political nuclear shield

President of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian People's Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko heard reports by Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian People's Congress Aleksandr Kosinets and Head of the Belarusian People's Congress Secretariat Valery Mitskevich. The parties discussed the future structure and system of work with delegates at the Congress. The head of state asked what had already been done in this direction and what issues remained to be resolved. Speaking about the role of the Belarusian People's Congress and its relation to delegates, the President noted: "The Belarusian People's Congress is a kind of political nuclear shield, which is used in exceptional cases, if it is necessary to hold an extraordinary meeting. These are decisions of strategic nature only, not those about faulty fences or roofs, not even balconies. But at the same time, we cannot turn people away. Therefore, we need to establish such a connection with the delegates so that we could take a decision concerning this or that appeal of our people", the Belarusian leader emphasized.
