"The COVID-19 pandemic has led to further evolution in crimes in the field of trafficking in persons", said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus during a high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly to evaluate the UN Global Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Persons. Vladimir Makei recalled that in 2005, at the organization's summit, the President of Belarus called for the formation of a global partnership in the fight against human trafficking, marking the beginning of many years of active work of our country in this direction. Vladimir Makei also noted that the result of the resolutions initiated by Belarus was the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the Global Action Plan, the designation of July 30 as World Day against Trafficking in Human Beings and the establishment of the UN Trust Fund for the Protection of Victims. By the decision of the Head of State, Belarus made a voluntary contribution to this fund three times.
