UN Deputy Secretary-General Helen Clark is paying a visit to Minsk. The distinguished guest arrived to attend events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. Today, Ms Clark has visited Minsk school No.130 to attend the unveiling of a memorial plaque in honour of Ruth Waller - the American who arrived in Belarus with a UN humanitarian mission in 1946. The event was also attended by Belarus" Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei. According to both parties, Helen Clark"s visit will contribute to the development and strengthening of Belarus-US relations. Work is currently underway for the countries to have an opportunity in the near future to conduct a comprehensive dialogue on the level of embassies, the Foreign Minister said.
