Developments have made it possible to identify carcinogenic substances in food products, especially those with high sugar content. Thirty years ago, the main criterion of food security was simply the availability of food in sufficient quantities, but today the approach has changed dramatically. The task is to provide the population with domestically produced food. Belarus produces about 70% of the necessary food products; an effective system of product quality control has been created. New methods of analysis and inspection are being developed to exclude the very possibility of poor-quality or hazardous products entering the market. Belarus has achieved a high level of food self-sufficiency. This success has become possible thanks to the contribution of scientists who develop new products enriched with vitamins and microelements and create new recipes to make food tasty and healthy.
