Belarusian scientists are working on a process for producing narrow-clawed crayfish on an industrial scale

In the wild, the narrow-clawed crayfish grows very slowly to marketable size –about four years. And breeding them artificially is one of the most challenging tasks in aquaculture. But scientists at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy in Gorky have found a way to improve this process. The secret lies in a special caviar processing technology. Using specialized preparations, they increased the survival rate by up to 50%. The development is currently being patented. This will allow for a high level of crayfish farming in the country and supply the domestic market with this Belarusian delicacy.
