Russian Peredvizhniki artists — in Mogilev

The long-standing collaboration between the National Museum of Belarus and the Byalynitsky-Birulya Museum in Mogilev has resulted in the unique "Peredvizhniki" (The Wanderers) exhibition. It features around 40 works by 26 of the greatest masters of painting, all of which are originals. The Peredvizhniki were one of the most renowned art unions in the history of Russian art during the second half of the 19^th century. It was thanks to this movement that people — not only in the capital but also in the provinces — gained the opportunity to experience fine art. In their works, the Peredvizhniki primarily addressed pressing social issues and the lives of ordinary people.
