A colorful authentic rite "Pulling Kolyada on Oak" was held in the village of Noviny, Berezinsky district. The main symbol of the holiday is a rye sheaf or Kolyada. It was carried across the village with a pot of boiled rice in a procession. The old sheaf was overthrown form the oak and burned down. The new Kolyada was pulled up to the tree. The locals expect such rite to bring good yield in autumn. The rite was restored over 20 years ago. It has been entered into the list of Belarus' historical and cultural heritage.
