A world-class addition to the Marc Chagall Museum collection

A patron of the arts from Vitebsk has donated three rare works by the world-renowned sculptor and graphic artist Ossip Zadkine to the institution — specifically, two lithographs and a linocut. For the Vitebsk museum, this gift marks a historic event; the local collections had previously held no works by the master, who was born in the city on the Dvina River and created his art in Paris. Ossip Zadkine's name is inextricably linked to Vitebsk: he spent two years sharing a desk with Marc Chagall at a local school and studied drawing under Yuri Pen. Today, his works grace the world's major museums.
