A unique collection of embossed rizas on display in Minsk

The National Art Museum of Belarus is hosting the exhibition “Heat and Cold of Metal. The icon cases presented at the exhibition stand out due to their three‑dimensional relief and varied decoration: craftsmen from the Old Believer region decorated them with floral ornaments and patterns, and also reproduced the texture of silk and precious stones in metal. A distinctive feature of the exhibition is the photo compositions featuring detailed depictions of the elements used to decorate the icon cases. The works of a family dynasty of priests are presented separately: technological manuscripts containing recipes for working with metal and creating enamel paintings.
