The Museum of Belarusian Cinema History is one of the youngest in Belarus, although it has almost thirty years of prehistory.
The main activities of the museum are: collection, systematization and description of documents and materials on the history of Belarusian cinema and film culture in general; popularization of the achievements of our film heritage through the organization of informative excursions and lectures, systematic screening (including by individual and group orders) of film classics, as well as the organization and holding of stock, thematic and personal temporary exhibitions related to cinematography and Belarusian fine arts in general.
The museum's exposition is distinguished by a vivid specificity characteristic of a film museum. It consists of two equally important, integral parts - object and screen: since it is possible to get fully acquainted with a movie as a historical and cultural value only through viewing it on the screen. That is why on the 1st floor of the museum building there is a cinema hall for 50 seats and a video hall for 10 seats, where in a systematized order (mainly in the form of thematic and personal retrospectives) and on individual orders domestic and foreign film classics are shown (after excursions or without them); on the 2nd floor there is an exposition hall. (135 m2), which houses the subject (permanent) exposition (about 900 exhibits), the basis of which are the sections "Founders of Belarusian Cinema" (stands about the works of film directors Yuri Tarich and Vladimir Korsh-Sablin) and "The Golden Fund of Belarusian Cinema" (stands about our best films of military, children's and historical themes, created over 95 years of film production in Belarus, for which there is no shame in the 21st century, which have been preserved in time and organically fit into the modern cultural context), as well as the section "The World of Belarusian Animation" (stands with materials about the milestone cartoons for our cinema over the 45-year history of their creation).
On the 3rd floor of the building there is an exhibition hall (100 m2), where temporary expositions are held, which familiarize with specific cinematographic professions, the history of creation of iconic Belarusian films of all kinds and genres, various personal and collective art exhibitions.
