The museum consists of two buildings: the House-Museum of Marc Chagall and the Marc Chagall Art Center. The House-Museum of Marc Chagall was opened in 1997. It is located on Pokrovskaya Street in the house built by the artist's father in the early 1900s, where Marc Chagall spent his teenage years. The museum presents household items of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, as well as copies of archival documents and works of the artist, telling about the life of Marc Chagall and his family in Vitebsk.
The Marc Chagall Art Center was established in 1992. Exhibitions of Marc Chagall's graphic works (lithographs, woodcuts, etchings, aquatints) are held here. In the collection of the museum there are: a series of illustrations for the poem "Dead Souls" by N. Gogol (1923-1925), a series of color lithographs on the theme "Bible" created in 1956 and 1960, a series of color lithographs "12 tribes of Israel" (1960) and other works by Marc Chagall.
