The Gomel Palace and Park Complex is one of the most beautiful architectural monuments of Belarus. Today, the unique museum complex in the city centre unites the Rumyantsevs' and Paskevichs' palace, a chapel-shrine, a winter garden, an observation tower and a magnificent ancient park.

Construction of the palace began in 1777 with the participation of prominent architects of the time. The palace was inherited from Pyotr Rumyantsev by his eldest son. However, in 1834 a major military commander Ivan Fyodorovich Paskevich became the new owner of the estate.

Under the new owner, the park was redesigned and expanded. Rare species of trees and plants were brought here. Art objects were placed on the territory – trophy weapons, marble sculptures and decorative vases. In the richly decorated halls of the palace, the owners organised lavish receptions, balls and festive events.

Nowadays, the former residence of aristocrats in Gomel is one of the most visited museums in Belarus. More than 300 thousand visitors come here every year. About 100 exhibitions, events and concerts are organised.

The ground floor of the central part of the palace is a historical reconstruction of the rooms of a noble estate. As in ancient times, the Column Hall, the White Drawing Room, the Red Drawing Room and the Reception Hall are located here. Today, these halls are the venue for balls and concerts, meetings and negotiations with the participation of top officials.

The collection of the Gomel Palace and Park Complex Museum is one of the richest in the Republic of Belarus. The collection is based on memorial items from the Rumyantsevs’ and Paskevichs’ collections. Other most interesting collections of the museum's funds are: archaeological and numismatic collections; icon painting and religious objects; even a collection of marine organisms!

The centerpiece of the complex is a 34-hectare park. There are about 5 thousand trees on its territory.

The tower houses the exposition "The Rumyantsevs and Paskevichs, owners of the Gomel estate". There you can see authentic paintings, sculptures, weapons and personal belongings of the princes.

Magnolia, various palm trees, coffee tree, fig tree, Himalayan jasmine, avocado grow in the winter garden. The oldest plant is the fan–leaved palm, planted back in 1888! In addition, in the Winter Garden you can look at colorful aquarium fish, pond turtles, fluffy decorative rabbits and guinea pigs.

"Pearl" of Gomel – palace and park complex – from year to year invariably attracts visitors.
