The 42nd International Judo Tournament Yurtov Cup was held in Grodno. Nearly 300 young athletes aged 12 to 17 from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Abkhazia and Tajikistan competed for medals. The competition has a long history: the first championship was held in December 1984. The tournament is dedicated to the memory of police captain Viktor Yurtov, a heroic internationalist who died while serving in Afghanistan. Medals were awarded in eight weight categories across two age groups.
