Traffic rules have been adjusted in Belarus
The corresponding decree was signed by the President. The document concerns cyclists and scooters. Now they are required to dismount when crossing the roadway. It is expected that this will reduce the accident rate. In two years, there have been about 900 accidents involving bicycles and scooters. Among other innovations, the concept of "means of personal mobility" has been defined. There are many new devices on the roads that can reach high speeds, while their owners move along the sidewalk, creating a danger for pedestrians. Now it will be possible to ride electric scooters, segways, and monowheels along a bike path at a speed of no more than 25 km/h, and on a sidewalk — no more than 10 km/h. If the weight of the device exceeds 35 kg, it is forbidden to move along the sidewalk. The main provisions of the decree come into force on 1 September.
